The attempts to encourage the youth in a parish in India to care for the environment
If we are serious about protecting Mother Earth from various environmental disasters in the future, it is important to invest our resources in preparing the present generation to face the future environmental challenges. At this stage, the kids are more open to change, and easy to mould their habits affecting the environment.
On the contrary, the mindset of majority of the grown up adults is difficult to change, as it is said, “old habits die hard”. This is the one major reason why the governments are struggling with various environmental issues including waste management.
Pope Francis challenges us, “What kind of world do we want to leave for those come after us, to children now who are growing up? The questions not only concerns the environment in isolation; the issue cannot be approached piecemeal” (Laudato Si)
Change for the better doesn’t come by itself. As Mahatma Gandhi says “be the change you want to see in the world”.
